Elope in Western Canada with great packages and spectacular settings available to sweethearts who choose to elope in the Canadian Rockies.
These rugged mountains attract sports enthusiasts and nature lovers who want to take their wedding vows in a mountain fairyland and then enjoy downhill or alpine skiing, snowmobiling, rock climbing, wilderness hiking or sightseeing.
Depending on your budget, you can select a luxury Canadian Rockies wedding resort or plan a cheap elope wedding. Either way, your big day will be a breathtaking, romantic experience.
1. Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Weddings in Jasper National Park is a great choice for eloping couples. Whether you want to elope in Jasper with an intimate, romantic ceremony or with a large celebration and catered reception, contact the Fairmont’s Conference Services Team for elopement information. Room rates start at $239 (CAN) or overnight in a secluded cabin in the scenic Alberta wilderness.
2. Canmore Weddings offers a Canadian Rockies B&B elopement package with charming accommodations for two nights at a Bear & Bison Country Inn. Also included are a wine and fruit snack, massage treatments, bath gift package, gourmet breakfast, officiate at your outdoor ceremony in Canmore or Banff, bridal bouquet, boutonniere, wedding cake, dinner, and more. Add-ons include video and photographic packages. Rates start at $2300 (CAN).
3. Rocky Mountain Weddings provides a romantic Banff elopement package (or in Lake Louise or Canmore). A consultant helps you by booking accommodations and supplies the officiate, flowers, professional wedding photographer, wedding cake, chilled champagne, and more for $2995 (CAN).
4. Elope in Banff or plan a Lake Louise Elopement and the marriage commissioners from Banff Lake Louise Weddings will perform your ceremony. Choose the site, indoors (e.g., world-famous Banff Springs Hotel; Buffalo Mountain Lodge), outdoors (e.g., Moraine Lake; Bow Falls), or adventure-style (e.g., ski, canoe, or motorcycle wedding) and they’ll be there for you. Fees vary with location.
To elope in the Canadian Rockies, the bride and groom must be 18 or older and apply in person with photo ID (i.e., passport, driver license) to any registry agent in Alberta, with the full names (including maiden names) and birthplaces of parents. You need not be residents of Alberta, there is no waiting period, and no blood tests are required, but you must supply proof of divorce or death of previous spouses.
The license is valid anywhere in Alberta for 90 days and costs about $72 (rates vary). Cousin marriages and same sex marriages are allowed and two witnesses over age 18 are required.
