Legal Requirements for a Canadian Rockies ElopementTo elope in the Canadian Rockies, the bride and groom must be 18 or older and apply in person with photo ID (i.e., passport, driver license) to any registry agent in Alberta, with the full names (including maiden names) and birthplaces of parents. You need not be residents of Alberta, there is no waiting period, and no blood tests are required, but you must supply proof of divorce or death of previous spouses.
The license is valid anywhere in Alberta for 90 days and costs about $72 (rates vary). Cousin marriages and same sex marriages are allowed and two witnesses over age 18 are required.
